What is the Summerhill International curriculum?

Our curriculum focusses on the bedrock of knowledge: reading, composition, math, history, and logic. We promote individual and independent thinking. 

What is Summerhill International doing to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus? 

 Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Summerhill International already followed strict practices for health and cleaning that met government standards. Since the coronavirus outbreak, we have implemented Health Essentials,social distancing, disinfection, wellness education, and symptom monitoring.

What age children do you serve?

SIS caters to children aged between 2years and above.

What are the Special Features of your School?

The below are the unique services that we provide to promote quality and reliable childcare, and to stand apart from other players:

• CCTV access
• SIS  puts a lot of emphasis on the teacher student ratio. We believe that appropriate attention and care must be given to children with respect to their ages. Smaller group sizes and lower staff/child ratios have been found to be strong predictors of compliance with indicators of quality such as positive interactions among staff and children and developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• The teachers that we recruit are qualified with degrees and trained before embarking on the child care role. 
• SIS follows a curriculum based on experiential learning and focussed on the concept of Multiple Intelligence. 
• The preparatory schools have excellent facilities of international standards with each centre ranging from 6000 sqft to 20000 sqft, which means that per child sqft is close to 50 sqft per child. The rooms are bright and airy.

What method do you follow to teach the Children?

Our teaching and learning philosophy is based on Multiple Intelligence and experiential learning where the child learns through experiences in and around one’s learning space.

The Theory of Multiple Intelligence says that intelligence can be differentiated by different abilities or ways of learning. A child can learn multiplication through an activity based on ‘multiplication as addition’ and another child can learn the same with an activity based on grouping of objects.

What is Summerhill’s process on checking the background of their employees?

SIS conducts a comprehensive background check on all prospective employees and frequent visitors.

Can I visit my child at the centre anytime I’d like to?

Yes, SIS has an open door policy. You are encouraged to visit your child anytime, but only outside the classrooms to avoid disturbing other children.

Is there a playground?

Yes

Are all staff trained in CPR, First Aid and fire emergencies?

All SIS staff are trained regularly in CPR, first aid and fire emergencies. So you can feel confident that your child is safe and receiving the best care possible at our school.
