Nurturing Young Minds


At SIS, we prepare students to be future ready… for an evolving and increasingly global society as they develop physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically for success in adult life. In addition to the focus on knowledge, understanding of cultures and concepts, students are best served, if they are learning to learn; that is developing  the skills and attitudes toward future learning. This will prepare them for higher education and subsequent employment. We aim to nurture each student in a stimulating environment of academic excellence , cultural diversity and mutual respect. Each student is able to participate in a multitude of experiences, leading to tremendous intellectual, emotional, spiritual and physical growth. We help them recognize their talents and hone their skills, instill positive values, teamwork and make learning fun. The need for teamwork as we face growing economies, health and political inter-dependencies brings honing collaborative traits into sharp focus.

Innovative opportunities that foster the ability to learn and adapt provide an edge to our students.  Thus theatre, art and music form an integral part of the school program and afford diverse opportunities to bring out the latent and overt talent in each child. Well-equipped music, dance and theatre studios provide scope and space for rehearsing and presenting performances. A plethora of sporting activities appeals to the sensibilities of most learners thereby offering them a balance between interest and physical engagement.

Consequently, the campus of the school is always a busy place – reverberating with melody, colours, and creativity, making education at Summerhill International, Dehradun a learning fiesta. Whether it is innovating in the Maker Spaces or manipulating play material, exploring the world of books, or taking up social entrepreneurship, the inquiry provides authentic ways for students to explore and understand the world around them. The passion within them will subsequently pave the way for making informed choices in adult life, but the experiences must begin at school-is what we believe at SIS.


Creativity

Exploring, wondering and questioning are the pillars on which rest the streak of creativity. Fostering a classroom culture that celebrates the student voice, creativity and exploration help our students find intrinsic motivation at Summerhill International, Dehradun. For us, it is all about loud thinking and uninhibited expression within and outside classrooms. Enthusiastic students and dynamic team of facilitators translate creativity through Art, Music, Dance, Theatre, Story Boards, Animation, Experiments and much more. Allowing children to play with colours during art sessions, offering playtime in open spaces, encouraging creative writing, multilingualism is intrinsic to the development of creativity. It offers an opportunity to experience the joys of childhood in primary school where students are  not afraid to make mistakes and then sit down to reflect upon what could be changed the next time. Creativity, Activity and Service involvement are at the very heart of our middle and senior school that asks every student to show initiative, develop perseverance and demonstrate skills of collaboration, problem solving and decision-making.

As each student at school embarks on a personal journey of self-discovery that is both challenging and enjoyable, experiences leave a profound life-changing impact on impressionable minds. We believe students are naturally curious, they must be allowed the freedom and space to get their ‘hands dirty’ on the job. They become courageous to take risks and reflective enough to understand their strengths. Culture

Summerhill International School, Dehradun is a melting pot of cultures, values and beliefs that fosters respect for common humanity and an open mind for a global outlook amongst its learners. Outdoor Play Areas

The Pre-Primary section and Primary section have their exclusive outdoor play areas, with age-appropriate, and colourful play equipment, which facilitates the development of motor skills in students.
